Timothy L. O'Brien
I am an Associate Professor and Director of Undergraduate Studies in Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I study how social positions affect what people believe and how they behave. I am especially interested in why groups hold different values and trust different information. This includes studies of public opinion, judicial decision making, scientific publishing, and more.
I teach classes on research methods, statistics, and sociology of law. I am co-editor of Readings for Sociology, now in its 9th edition, which is widely used in undergraduate sociology classes.
